- 1836 — Birth of Shree Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, born on February 18th, Monday, in Kamarpukur, small village of Bengal. Father Khudiram,mother Chandramani, a pious couple. Named their son Gadadhar. Legend of both of them receiving message from God in dreams that the Lord would be born as their child
- 1842 — first experience of ecstasy upon seeing flock of cranes crossing black
- 1843 — father dies.
- 1845 — invested with the holy thread.
- 1845 — in trance on playing role of shiva in village play.
- 1849 — elder brother goes to Calcutta to earn livelihood.
- 1852 — summoned by elder brother to Calcutta.
- 1855 — May 31, Dakshineswar temple consecrated, elder brother comes there as chief priest, Ramakrishna goes along as helper.
- 1856 — Elder brother dies, Ramakrishna appointed as priest of temple. Soon after, has first vision of Kali. Thereafter, repeated visions, drowns in ecstasy.
- 1858 — came back to Kamarpukur because of his health, remained for one and a half years.
- 1859 — married to Sarada devi, then 5 years of age.
- 1860 — returns to Dakshineswar, again consumed by same fever of devotion.
- 1861 — Bhairavi Brahmani arrives, guides him in Bhakti and Tantra, achieves mystical experiences of these wo forms. Brahamani stays for three years.
- 1864 — Brahmani leaves, Tota Puri arrives towards the end of the year. Ramakrishna initiated by him into Sannyasa, practises Vedantic meditation, achieves mystical union.
- 1865 — Totapuri leaves after 11 months.
- 1866 — end of the year practises Islam, achieves mystical union through it.
- 1867 — returns to Kamarpukur for health, met by Sarada Devi now 14 years, confesses he is now a sannyasi.
- 1868 — January, goes on pilgrimage with Mathur Babu, the patron of the temple. Goes to Vaidyanath, Varanasi, Allahabad, Vrindaban, Mathura.
- 1870 — Pilgrimage to Nadiya, birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
- 1872 — Sarada Devi comes to Dakshineswar. Sleeps separately.
- 1873 — Second elder brother dies.
- 1874 — practises Christianity, achieves mystical union.
- 1875 — March, meets Keshab Chandra Sen of the Brahmo Samaj, greatly influences him.
- 1876 — mother dies.
- 1876—1881 — gradually attracts Brahmo Samaj followers and through them attracs the intellectual elite of Calcutta as well as thousands of devotees. Makes several hundred disciples, both householders and monastic.
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa
- 1881 — November – sees Narendra (Swami Vivekananda) for first time at house of Keshab Chandra Sen where he sings a devotional song. Invites to Dakshineswar.
- 1881 — December &ndash meets Narendra for the first time in Dakshineswar, a defining moment for both.
- 1884 — January, breaks arm.
- 1885 — April – develops cancer.
- 1885 — June, Master shifted to Shyampukur in Calcutta for treatment by Dr. Mahendralal Sarkar, homeopath.
- 1885 — December 11 – shifted to garden house of Cossipore. Most disciples including Narendra stayed there, 12 disciples in all, the 12 apostles.
- 1886 — January 1, Master blessed everybody by touching and all had different spiritual experiences.
- 1886 — January – Master distributed Gerua (saffron) clothes to 12 disciples –the beginning of sannyasa – Naren, Rakhal, Baburam, Niranjan, Yogindra, Tarak, Shashi, Sharat, Kali, Latu, Gopal senior and Gopal Junior.
- 1886 — Sunday, Aug. 15 – Ramakrishna Paramahamsa died.
